HEALTHY MOTHERS/HEALTHY BABIES COALITION

The mission of the national Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) is to improve the health and safety of mothers, babies and families through education and collaborative partnerships of public and private organizations. The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) is a recognized leader and resource in maternal and child health. HMHB acts as a catalyst of change and creates partnerships among community groups, nonprofit organizations, professional associations, businesses and government agencies. By promoting optimal health for mom and baby, HMHB works to strengthen families and build healthy communities. The coalition has targeted limited resource and underserved communities in which women do not receive early prenatal care and infant mortality is high. HMHB’s educational materials and resources for providers assist them in serving these communities. SNAP-Ed Program's nutrition message is included in the HMHB coalition's healthcare materials, which further supports their outreach efforts. SNAP-Ed Program paraprofessionals use information from Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies in their educational efforts as well. Future collaborations include a train the trainer and delivery of nutrition education classes to Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies sites.
